KDE Plasma 6.3.3 Released: Enhancements and Fixes

KDE Plasma 6.3.3, the third maintenance update in the KDE Plasma 6 series, was released on March 11, 2025. This update focuses on refining user experience through various enhancements and bug fixes.​


Key Improvements:

  • Battery Charge Threshold Support: Expanded compatibility for battery charge thresholds across more devices, allowing users to manage battery health effectively. ​

  • Night Light Display Enhancements: Improved color rendering when using the Night Light feature on systems with Intel GPUs, providing a more comfortable viewing experience in low-light conditions. 

  • Power Management Warnings: Introduced alerts when disabling power management settings, helping users avoid configurations that could lead to increased energy consumption. 


Additional Fixes and Enhancements:

  • Breeze Theme Adjustments: Fixed issues with header color cascading when using non-global color schemes, ensuring visual consistency. 

  • MinGW Build Regression: Resolved a build regression with MinGW, improving compatibility and stability for users compiling with this toolchain. 

  • LibreOffice Writer Integration: Enhanced interoperability with LibreOffice Writer to prevent the insertion of unwanted anchor links during text copying. ​

  • Adaptive Sync Stability: Addressed issues that caused screen refresh rate changes when forcing "Adaptive Sync" to be enabled, ensuring a smoother display experience. ​

  • Digital Clock Widget: Introduced a more user-friendly font picker dialog in the Digital Clock widget, enhancing customization options. ​

  • System Settings Scaling: Provided more granular scale factor adjustments in System Settings, allowing for finer control over display scaling. ​


Bug Fixes:

  • GTK Application Menus: Fixed issues with in-window menus in GTK applications, ensuring consistent behavior when interacting with multiple menus. ​9

  • Info Center Display: Corrected the display of NVIDIA GPU names in the Info Center, providing accurate hardware information. 

  • Calendar Navigation: Enhanced the Calendar and Digital Clock widgets to navigate correctly through months, years, or decades when rapidly clicking navigation buttons. ​

  • Discover Software Center: Improved Discover to accurately display release notes for updatable Flatpak and Snap applications, aiding informed update decisions. ​


These updates collectively enhance the stability, usability, and performance of the KDE Plasma desktop environment, reaffirming KDE's commitment to delivering a refined user experience.
